Montessori Elementary Bilingual
Ages 6 – 9
Spanish Immersion and Biliteracy for Ages 6 to 9
Our Montessori elementary bilingual program builds on the strong foundation students gain in the early years. It serves children ages 6 to 12 and supports their growing curiosity, independence, and sense of community. Students explore the world in two languages, guided by hands-on learning and meaningful relationships.
Montessori describes this stage as the “second plane of development.” During this phase, children begin asking deeper questions and showing interest in big ideas. To meet this need, our classrooms promote research, collaboration, and purposeful work that connects academic subjects.
Children engage in an integrated curriculum. They explore language, math, science, geography, and the arts in ways that feel natural and connected. Instead of dividing subjects into separate lessons, we help children make sense of how they work together.
A Bilingual Environment for Biliteracy
Our program stands apart with its Spanish immersion and biliteracy focus. Children do not just study Spanish—they use it to think, speak, and create. Teachers introduce academic content in both English and Spanish, helping students gain fluency in both languages.
Students read books, write reports, hold discussions, and present projects in both languages. This dual-language approach strengthens their ability to communicate, builds cognitive flexibility, and increases cultural understanding.
We embed Spanish language learning into everything. For example, students might analyze Latin American poetry, complete a science project in Spanish, or perform a play about a historical figure. These activities give students real reasons to use language with purpose and pride.
Independent Thought and Meaningful Work
Montessori classrooms give students space to follow their curiosity. Teachers offer lessons in small groups or individually, allowing time to explore topics that interest each child. Students then take the lead, design projects, and present their discoveries.
They use imagination as a learning tool. Our Great Lessons introduce big ideas like the origin of the universe or the story of math. These lessons spark wonder and guide deeper learning in science, culture, and history.
Children create follow-up projects in both languages, which builds comprehension and expression. They learn how to plan, research, and revise—skills that carry into every part of life.
Our mixed-age classrooms help students grow socially and academically. Older students lead by example and mentor their younger peers. At the same time, younger students learn by watching and collaborating. This structure builds empathy, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.
Lifelong Skills and Lasting Confidence
By the time students complete our Montessori elementary bilingual program, they demonstrate not only strong academic ability and bilingual fluency, but also a deep sense of curiosity, independence, and compassion.
In our bilingual Montessori environment, communication is at the heart of learning. Children listen, speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish as part of their daily experiences — not as separate subjects, but as living languages that connect them to people, culture, and ideas.
They learn to think critically, ask meaningful questions, manage projects, and express complex thoughts with confidence and empathy in both languages. This natural flow between English and Spanish strengthens their cognitive flexibility and deepens their understanding of the world.
Through collaborative work, rich dialogue, and purposeful exploration, our students develop the tools to communicate with clarity, kindness, and respect — skills that prepare them not only for middle school, but for a lifetime of learning, connection, and contribution.
